INTRODUCTION
Our 1-day training course for architects and designers is for those who would like to increase their knowledge and gain an understanding of industry standards and construction methods for installing paving, as well as how to manage projects and liaise with contractors.
OVERVIEW
This course has been developed to provide delegates the opportunity to understand paving construction in a relaxed and welcoming environment. The course combines theory and practical training to help learners fully understand the requirements for installing natural stone and porcelain paving to BS7533 industry standards.

This 1-day training programme combines theory and practical training to ensure the learner has a full understanding of how to install natural Stone and porcelain paving. The attendee will gain:
- A comprehensive knowledge of the health & safety requirements for working on-site, including working with dangerous equipment and the necessary working practices to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
- An understanding and in-depth product knowledge of various natural stone and porcelain products and their applications
- A full understanding of how to select the correct materials to meet specifications and industry recommendations
- A full understanding of how to set out paving in accordance with industry standards
- A full understanding of sub-base requirements for natural stone and porcelain paving products to meet industry standards including excavation, waste and sub-base construction methods.
- A full understanding of the knowledge required to set and calculate appropriate fall rates for natural stone and porcelain paving products to meet industry standards for surface water run-off
- An understanding of mortar mixes, bedding layers and bridging bonds in preparation for the installation of paving
- A full understanding of the requirements and legality of cutting products using machinery
- An understanding of joint sizing for both sawn and riven natural stone and porcelain products, the use of jointing compounds and various techniques for the products
- Practical demonstrations of paving installation to industry standards on unbound (MOT) compacted sub-base with a Q&A throughout
- A full understanding of the aftercare and maintenance requirements for natural stone and porcelain products
